“Great”

The chalet, the equipment, and the location are great. The access road to the chalet is steep.

“Comfortable and Relaxing Family Vacation”

Our one-week family vacation at Chalet Lydie was wonderful. We were five (parents, two boys aged 15 and 18, and grandmother). The space in the house and the modern amenities — the beds, bathrooms, kitchen, large table, and the wood stove in the living room — were perfect. However, in front of the house, we could not play volleyball or frisbee, as there wasn’t enough flat space. It was very quiet, and the ever-changing play of sun, clouds, and fog over the mountain panorama added to our relaxation. The house is set a little away from the road, with a slightly steep path downward, but parking at the house is very easy. The village of Manigod is about a 10-minute drive, so a car is recommended for daily grocery needs.

The OVO Network Review

Chalet Lydie is a 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom property for 8 with 100m2 of floor space over 3 floors.

Larger groups of up to 16 can hire this recently renovated semi-detached chalet with it's sister chalet, Chalet Paul at Marie. Combined the two 4 star properties have 8 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms and 200m2 of floor space.

Both Chalet Lydie and Chalet Paul et Marie have Cool for kids status, meaning they have lots of extra equipment, much appreciated by families holidaying with young children. Guests staying in both chalets love the decor, layout, well equipped kitchen, comfy beds, and new bathrooms.

The owners put a great deal of thought, effort, care and attention into providing all that their guests might require to enjoy a peaceful, calm holiday.

Nature lovers will be happy - the chalet overlooks a meadow below, and is surrounded by trees and mountains, with walks from the front door and spectacular Alpine views.

Winter sports enthusiasts will be happy - the property is less than 1km away from the ski fields at La Croix Fry, with great ski links to La Clusaz. In fact when snow conditions are favourable, guests with the will and skill to try, can, in theory snow shoe, sledge or ski back to the chalet.

Off piste and at their own risk of course!

Summer guests will be happy too - they can enjoy and appreciate the walking, cycling, wild life, flaura and fauna spotting and via ferrata opportunities.

The chalet is a drive way from the nearest supermarket so stock up either in Thones (or Merdassier in season), before heading up to the chalet. There are several restaurants close by, and the local baker offers fresh bread deliveries.

If you are planning a winter stay at Chalet Paul et Marie or Chalet Lydie, remember snow doesn't only fall on the pistes, it also falls on the roads and drives! Don't get caught out by arriving in a car which is not properly equipped for Alpine winter road conditions. The drive down to the chalet from the main road has been tarmaced to enable easier and more efficient snow clearing.

Please note Chalet Lydie does not welcomes pets.

Enjoy!

“We love the peace and freedom of this chalet in the heart of nature”

My grandmother Lydie inherited this chalet from her parents Louise and Constant.

After she retired, she loved spending every summer in the chalet, from June to mid-October, although it wasn't terribly comfortable. She came with her husband André, who was also born in Manigod.

My parents brought her groceries and supplies at weekends and I often spent my summer holidays here with my grandparents and my cousins.

When I married Paul, he also fell in love with the place. He enjoyed renovating the place with local craftsmen, bringing it up to a high level of comfort.

Along with our two daughters, Céline and Aurélie, we spent our holidays here with family and friends, and they have kept the tradition up.

We love the peace and freedom of this chalet in the heart of nature, surrounded by mountains. We hope you will also have some wonderful moments here.
